Abstract
Comparing visual skills in sedentary and active work environments. A comparative study was conducted between training recruits (n = 138) and undergraduate university (n = 169) students to assess whether physical activity enhances visual skills. The results indicated that recruits, who lead an active lifestyle, possess superior skills in eye-hand coordination and reaction time. However, students possess superior skills in tracking and sequencing.

Inhoud
Visuele vaardigheid word dikwels onderskat wanneer ’n persoon 20/20 visie het. Hierdie miskonsepsie kan hoogs nadelig wees, aangesien visuele vaardighede benodig word in ’n kompeterende omgewing. Visuele vaardighede bestaan uit drie belangrike komponente, naamlik persepsie, besluitneming en respons. Die doel van die studie was om vas te stel of daar ’n verskil is in visuele vaardighede van individue in ’n onaktiewe (169 voorgraadse universiteit studente) en aktiewe omgewing (138 opleiding innames) deur gebruik te maak van ’n reeks visuele toetse. Die resultate het gewys dat hand-oog koördinasie en reaksietyd beter is in die aktiewe werksomgewing, terwyl oogvolging van voorwerpe en visuele geheue beter was in die onaktiewe werksomgewing. Die visuele vaardighede wat superieur getoets het in die onderskeie omgewings is ’n goeie weergawe van die funksies in die onderskeie omgewings.
