T-wave inversion was observed in a large number of primates (Papio ursinus). This observation was not associated with myocardial ischaemia. Inversion of the T-wave in primates, and other mammals, can be explained by differences in the duration of the action potential in different areas of the myocardium and the control of the duration of the action potential by the autonomic nervous system.
