The role of technikons in research

Abstract

It is accepted that technikons have a research responsibility and task which stems from the vocational directed character of its training. Research at technikons should result in implementation in practice. Such research does not necessarily culminate in publications and is therefore difficult to measure. In view of increasing disinvestment, the potential of technological research at technikons can play a critical role in industrial development.
