Abstract
Ray florets are the outermost, conspicuous flowers in the Asteraceae capitulum and can be arranged in one or more whorls. They are long, short or reduced, and the number of flowers per whorl varies. They can be white, yellow, orange, blue or purple in colour, and sometimes the colours of the upper and lower surfaces differ.
