Abstract

The compounds R₄NTaCI₆ with R = CH₃ or were synthesized by refluxing R₄NCI and TaCl₅ in SOCl₂ If C₂H₅AICI is added to R₄NTaCI₆ (Al/Ta molar ratio = 2,5) a suitable catalytic system is formed for the cyclotrimerization of acetylene to produce benzene.
