Abstract

Communication is a field in which technological developments have had and still have an important impact. More and more economic and other human activities benefit from advances in communications technology. These activities are therefore much more dependent upon the level of technology used in communication. Countries (and enterprises) that do not keep up with these technological developments are increasingly being excluded from such benefits, and will eventually not be able to participate effectively in these activities.
